Not really the way I wanted to start spring...

Please allow me to vent for a few sentences...it's the first day of spring and we are under a winter storm advisory in my neck of the woods. We went from 67 on Thursday to a lovely 26 today. The icy roads are back and my space heater is on again! What a teaser we had this week with all the sunshine!

And on to something really disappointing...um, really, KU??? Did the #1 team in the country just let it slip away like that? UGH! Not good! Makes me want to throw in the towel on my diet and have a beer! :(

Warming up for the next holiday...

Do you know what you are looking at here? That's right, Rice Crispy Easter Eggs!! I am patting myself on the back for my creativity, yet shaking my head due to the fact that I ate a lot of gooey mix as I made these treats. Thanks to my mom for adding the Rice Crispy "grass" at the bottom of the bowl :)

And, yes, I know Easter is nearly three weeks away, but these are going to a good home tomorrow. With five children in the house, I have a feeling they will be gone before spring break is over!

A Sober St. Paddy's Day

“May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you, and all your heart might desire!”

This is the first year in the last decade that I haven't celebrated St. Patrick's Day in Kansas City. Instead, I worked all day rocking a kelly green cardigan and reminding myself that green beer is not allowed on the South Beach diet anyway. However, after a few drunken phone calls from friends wondering where I was, I started to feel a little bummed that I was missing the festivities. I think my boyfriend is feeling the same way since he requested I pack a 6-pack of Boulevard Irish Ale when I fly to see him in three weeks! Can you even fly with beer? This just seems like a disastrous spill waiting to happen!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here We Go...

Well, spring is upon us (almost), and what better time to try something new?

I used to love writing. Actually, I used to love a lot of creative and artistic things, but somewhere in the chaos of my twenties I forgot about many of those. Now that I have made the decision to slow down, to leave all that chaos behind I have decided bit by bit to start doing the things I love again.

So, I am going to blog. Not sure how and not sure what about, but it should be interesting (maybe just to me, but that's okay too!)
